The strength of the local clay, the one on the milpas where artisans grow chile, corn and beans, is the central focus of the original Barro Zacatecas collection, a tableware set that aims to preserve the particular identity of the region, and, at the same time, means a new option for the creation of Zacatecan products.
The project started as part of the activities of the Craft Develop Institute of Zacatecas (IDEAZ), with the objective of producing and promoting work produced in the state.
The project found its inspiration in colours of the local earths and skies.
This collection under constant revision and evolution and many editions of it have been released to the public.
In 2012 the collection’s vases were selected to be part of the project “Destination: México”, curated by Ana Elena Mallet for the Museum of Modern Art shop in New York.
